Childrens' party packs are often filled with sweets and junk food - every parent's nightmare. Of course, a one off treat is no harm but here's an idea to try for your kid's next birthday party - a DIY cookie jar! It's so simple to make - you only need to add 3 ingredients easily found in your refridgerator/store cupboard.
step-by-step
benefits of a healthy diy cookie jar
- It encourages your kids to participate in food preparation.
- This activity is so simple they are out of the kitchen before they can create a mess.
- Children are eating healthful ingredients without realising it - oats, chia seeds, dried cranberries, dark chocolate. If you want to cut back on more fat intake, you can also substitute the butter with the same amount of applesauce/mashed bananas/prune puree.
